Custom domains
Launching soonPublish on your own domain, with HTTPS
Custom domains are launching soon. You will add your domain, point it at BoltLander and we will handle the certificate. Until then, every page publishes on your workspace address.

Launching soon
Custom domain support is not available yet. What you read below is what we are building, and we will say so plainly until it ships.
How it will work
Step 1: Add your domain
Enter a name such as offers.example.com on your workspace’s Domains screen. We check that the name can be used before anything else happens.
Step 2: Add a few DNS records
You get a copy-ready list of records to create where you manage your DNS: one that points the name at your workspace, one that proves you own it and one for the certificate. We keep checking on our own and tell you what is missing.
Step 3: Go live over HTTPS
When the records are found, we issue the certificate, check that the site loads and start serving your pages on the domain.
What custom domains will cover
Your name, a certificate we look after
Pages are served on your domain over HTTPS. Certificates are issued and renewed for you. If renewal ever struggles, or your DNS changes in a way that would stop the domain serving, the Domains screen and an email warn you days before visitors would notice.
- A status in plain words at every stage, from waiting for DNS to live
- Your workspace address keeps working throughout
- Branded error pages that name no one else’s workspace
www, the bare domain and redirects
Connect the bare domain and its www address together and choose which one is the main address. The other redirects to it. You can also add redirect rules for old paths, such as sending /old-offer to a new address, and choose whether to keep the part after the question mark.
- Switch the main address later
- Redirect rules for pages you move or rename
- Tailored instructions where a provider cannot point a bare domain at another name
Move a domain between workspaces
Agencies can move a domain to another workspace in the same organisation. Its redirect rules and history move across, your DNS records stay as they are, and the domain is verified again in the new workspace. Removing a domain lets you move its pages to another domain or unpublish them, with time to undo.
- Pages stay behind in the workspace they were built in
- Typing the domain name to confirm stops accidental removals
Frequently asked questions
When will custom domains launch?
We do not have a date to share. Write to hello@boltlander.com and we will tell you when they are available.
Can I use my own domain today?
Not yet. Today every page is published on your workspace address, a BoltLander address secured with HTTPS.
Will I need to buy or install a certificate?
No. The design is for certificates to be issued and renewed for you, using the DNS records you add when you connect the domain.
Will it work with a bare domain like example.com?
That is the aim, and how depends on your DNS provider. Some providers let a bare domain point at another name, using an ALIAS record or flattening. Others do not, and for those we will suggest connecting the www address and forwarding the bare domain to it at your registrar.
Will an agency be able to move a domain between clients?
That is part of the design. A domain can be moved to another workspace in the same organisation, with its redirect rules and history. Its pages stay behind, and the domain is verified again in the new workspace.
